AKC S.T.A.R Puppy

Orientation is August 21, 2026

6:00 p.m.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program focuses on all the things every puppy and owner need to have a great start together.  It also provides a good lead-in to earning the Canine Good Citizen title.

Your puppy will learn manners, walk on leash, sit, stay, down, and more.

There are 20 steps to achieving a S.T.A.R. Puppy certification that involve both you and your puppy.  A few of those steps are:

* Owner and pup attend the 6 week class

* Owner maintains the puppy's health

*Owner describes adequate play and exercise schedule

* The puppy tolerates a collar or harness

* Puppy allows owner to take away a toy or treat

* Puppy is free of aggression towards other dogs

* Puppy walks on leash

* Puppy sits on command

Beginner Obedience

Orientation is August 17, 2026

7:15 p.m.

Beginner Obedience is for puppies seven months or older.

Obedience training may just be the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and your pet. It teaches your dog appropriate social behavior with both people and animals; helps correct annoying behaviors like jumping, digging, barking, and chewing; and keeps your dog entertained and happy. A win-win all around!

Throughout this 6 week class, you’ll learn essential training commands to keep your dog safe, such as heel, sit, stand, down, stay, and come. Instructors will also teach you about proper nutrition, grooming, and solutions to common problems.

Show & Go

A "go and show" (or match show/fun match) is an informal, practice dog show where dogs and handlers get real-ring experience. No official championship points or titles are awarded. They offer low-stress environments for young puppies or beginner handlers to train, socialize, and learn the rules before entering official point-awarding shows.

Our Show & Go matches at the training Center are set for:

October 3, 2026
